Pete Lovely was an  American who ran a Volkswagen dealership in the USA. He was a a competent and enthusiastic amateur driver. He had early success in the USA with Sportcars including Porsche and Ferrari. He later tried his hand at Formula 1 and in 1969  acquired a Lotus 49B which he collected and raced at the Race of Champions at Brands Hatch.

Description

Pete Lovely was an  American who ran a Volkswagen dealership in the USA. He was a a competent and enthusiastic amateur driver. He had early success in the USA with Sportcars including Porsche and Ferrari. He later tried his hand at Formula 1 and in 1969  acquired a Lotus 49B which he collected and raced at the Race of Champions at Brands Hatch. He finish last of the 6 finishers. In 1970 Pete Lovely returned to the UK with the Lotus  and raced again in the Race of Champions and the International Trophy race at Silverstone. Pete Lovely also entered the British GP at Brands Hatch but was not classified as a finisher being 11 laps behind the winner Jochen Rindt.
